How To Paint This White Sands Yucca In Acrylics On Canvas

My newest eBook is available at Amazon.com. For those of you who like to paint in acrylics, check it out. There is a link to it on the upper left side of this blog. My daughter and her boyfriend went on vacation to the White Sands Monument in New Mexico and asked me to do a painting from one of their photographs. This eBook takes you step-by-step through the painting process so you can paint your own White Sands Yucca.

Walt Disney Background Art

When I was an art student at the University of Oklahoma, many eons ago, I had the pleasure of studying under a gentleman who worked at Walt Disney Studios as a background artist. This is one of the colored pencil drawings I made at his instruction. It was the first time I started with a black art board and colored dark to light to bring up the detail.

Adobe Photoshop eBook Cover

This is a commissioned eBook cover I did using the painting tools in Adobe Photoshop. I started by doing a pencil sketch on paper. Then I scanned the sketch into a JPEG the dimensions it needed to be for the cover. I used various paint brushes in Photoshop to add the color. The text was added later.

Adobe Illustrator Font Samples

I have Adobe CS5. When using Illustrator, the drop down menu for fonts only shows the name of the font and not the sample. I tried changing it in the preferences but it still did not show the samples. After researching this problem on the internet, I know that I am not the only one having this problem. It was a problem in CS4 and Adobe did not fix it for the new version. I then contacted Adobe through their Help Chat and after waiting ten minutes for the tech. guy to get his act together and reading though his broken English, he finally told me that #1 he really couldn't talk to me since I didn't pay for extended service and #2 he was sorry I was having this problem but he couldn't help me. This is very frustrating. Adobe is the industry standard for professional graphic design software. We have to use their software because that's what our clients demand. One would think Adobe could get this issue fixed. One would also think they could afford to hire tech. support/customer support who speak English clearly.
The best solution I have come up with for this problem is to go to the following Adobe site. Obviously Adobe is aware enough of this problem to devote and entire interactive website to it but not willing or able to fix the problem in the software itself. You can go to this site and preview font samples, pick one you want and write down the name of it, go back to your illustrator project and look through the menu for the name of that font.  http://www.adobe.com/type/fontfinder/ Please leave a comment if you have come up with a better solution.

Publish your blog on Kindle

I just signed up to make my blog available in the Kindle store. Guess I will have to start posting regularly now. I found out it gets more than 400 page view per month. That's not much compared to a lot of others but I'll take it. If you have a blog you would like to publish for kindle go to https://kindlepublishing.amazon.com/gp/vendor/sign-in/191-7310010-7961706?ie=UTF8&originatingURI=%2Fgp%2Fvendor%2Fmembers%2Fkindle-blogs%2Fdashboard
